The Second Man is the Lord from Heaven (1 Corinthians 15:47)
Theincarnation is the coming of the Son of God that was in
the mean time hiding His Divinity by His body, the veil,
Hebrew 10:20. He was worthy of great glory as the one
that appeared in His transfiguration. Therefore, the angels praised Him
saying: “Glory to God in the highest,” Luke 2:14. He hid His glory through a
veil, which was His body. His body did hide His Divinity. The Son of God
came to become the Son of Man to fulfill our salvation through His flesh.
It is a wonderful mystery that is beyond the understanding of
mankind. St. Paul said: “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness:
God was manifested in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen by angels,
preached among the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up in glory,” 1
Timothy 3:16.
It is an awesome union between the infinite Logos, the second
hypostasis and the finite mind of the manhood. The Bible describes that
union by the mind of God that was “revealed in a flesh”. It is a great union
between the Creator of the human senses and the senses of His manhood.
It is a great union between God’s will that is beyond comprehension (infinite,
unbounded, and everlasting) and the will of the manhood. This is the
person of Jesus Christ the Son of the Living God. It is the mystery of the
everlasting Logos, word of God, that became man without change. “And to
make all see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the
ages has been hidden in God, who created all things through Jesus Christ,”
Ephesians 3:9.
He is Almighty (Revelation 1:8, Revelation 4:8, and Revelation
11:17.) (All things are possible with Him, Matt. 19: 26, Mark 10: 27, Luke 18:
27) and He endured everything (Hebrew 12: 2-3, and the prayer of the ninth
hour of the Book of Hours [Agpya]) He is the Almighty Who took flesh and
He endured everything and suffered and died on the cross. “Looking unto
Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him
endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the
throne of God,” Hebrews 12:2.
This mystery belongs to God. The hypostasis of the Son that is
beyond comprehension cannot be understood except what was revealed to
us by the Spirit. The Bible wrote few words that have deep meaning for this
mystery. “And the Word became flesh”, John 1:14. “God was manifested in the
flesh,” 1 Timothy 3:16. “For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily,”
Colossians 2:9.
God is not limited. He is omnipresent, not bound by time or place.
He exists in every place through the fullness of His Divinity. Thus His limited
flesh united with His unbound Divinity.
Let us go to Him praising with the angels giving Him glory with the
country shepherds that were abiding in the field, keeping watch over their
flock by night. Let us worship Him in Spirit and truth with the Magi that
came to Him. Let us open our hearts and not just our treasures (Matthew
2:11). Let us confess His rule over us and proclaim His intercession and His
sacrificial love. Let us be humble as the One that came from heaven. Let us
carry Him inside ourselves like the Virgin.
